Lots of energy, cool, dark, angular melodies is their forte, and they're doing it very well right now!" -David Bash, IPO San Francisco "A cross of Mick Jagger and David Bowie might make one scary looking dude, but his voice would sure intrigue. This SF act does a dead-on imitation of that unholy mash-up, then supports 'him' with juicy sleaze-rock guitars, a la another wildly skilled wildman: Keith Richards." -Editor's review from CNET/download.com "San Francisco's Dangermaker play sick, haunting guitar rock that goes perfectly with a shot of whiskey and an absence of light. Don't bother listening to this band first thing in the morning as you enjoy a bran muffin with your skim latte. This is not a breakfast band. Instead, you should throw on their EP at the tail end o a three-day bender when you've jacked up the stereo and you're just looking to make one last pass at the girl sitting by herself at the end of the bar. I can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure Dangermaker are creatures of the night- which works for me because I am definitely not a morning person." -Ethan Kanat, Tough Customer Records El Terrible Terry Ashkinos, Scott Eberhardt, and Adrian McCullough. -From San Francisco, California. -Terry Ashkinos of Fake Your Own Death and producer Rob Easson spent the summer of 2013 in Rob's home studio obsessively crafting a new collection written by Ashkinos during his extended stay in Berlin earlier in the year. The EP features Sierra Frost of Clintongore and Dan Francisco of Fake Your Own Death and Every Move a Picture. THe live band is a ferocious three piece, with a dark and sparse sound wrought with post-punk urgency. Taxes Robby Cronholm, Josh White, Jonathan Kepke, Brad Harbidge, and Laura Dean. -From San Francisco, California. -"It's Always Something" is the latest album from the infamous San Francisco indie rock band, Taxes, and gauging by the first few tracks, it's definitely their most powerful thus far. This new release from Taxes builds mightily on the accomplished sound of their debut, This Is Going to End Badly, and gives you a deeper look at love, or the lack thereof. With an expert's understanding of the human condition, lead singer and former "crumb" frontman Robby Cronholm elecits a wide range of emotions with a voice that is at once powerful and fragile, a timbre prefectly suited to the moody, electronic-tinged indie rock made to seem effortless by a remarkably tight band. The addition of keyboardist and singer Laura Dean makes Taxes a half-dozen members strong, and lends an intimacy to a batch of songs that blur the lines between regret and refusal. |
