After meeting in the small town of Ripon, CA, guitar player Mackenzie Bunch and brothers Scott and Thomas Huerta started writing music that would set the pace for a more mature sound represented on their recently released full length album, Gold Youth. French Cassettes' sound is a satisfying use of instruments arranged into songs you'll be dancing to and hooks you'll be humming the next day. After one listen, it's easy to see why French Cassettes have quickly earned a slot at the top of the list of bands you need to know. Black Cobra Vipers Rob Mills, Julian Borrego, and Gregory DiMartino. -From San Francisco, California. -Black Cobra Vipers are an SF-based rock trio comprised of bassist Julian Borrego, drummer Rob Mills, and guitarist/lead singer Gregory DiMartino. Borrego and Mills cultivate the sound with their respective jazz backgrounds, featuring impeccable rhythm and technical ability. DiMartino's vocals, described by the Bay Bridges as "impressively unique while remaining accessible; a mix of rust and howl coated with a bit of swoon for good measure," anchor the band's rock and roll genrefication. The composite of the corresponding forces results in what the band describes as Passion-Rock-Art music and they play it for humans of all types, because it would be impolite not to.
