In his decade-plus life as a songwriter and musician he has sought to articulate something essential about life, writing songs that seem to have been scratched into a boxcar wall by a worn-out and lonesome ghost. His gravelly, sandpaper smooth voice and introspective lyrics mark him as that most rare of punk-rocker-turned-acoustic-troubadours: Votolato writes graceful, understated, human, unpretentious songs, demonstrating that simplicity is still a viable option for accomplished songwriters. Lotte Kestner -From Seattle, Washington -Lotte Kestner is the solo project of Anna-Lynne Williams of Trespassers William. "In the vein of My Bloody Valentine, Jolie Holland, and perhaps even Codeine, those remarkable shoe-gazers that were part of Sub Pop's early catalog. Williams' music is moody, inward, and her lyrics are wonderfully unpredictable." -Seattle Post-Intelligencer "Even though it doesn't matter what she's singing- the mood translates well through melody and instrumentation- it's lucky for the listener that the lyrics are included in the CD booklet. The sheer poetry of the songs is remarkable."- Seattle Sound Kevin Long -From Seattle, Washington. -Kevin Long is an indie/folk singer/songwriter from Seattle, Washington. His simple and stripped-down acoustic material is melodic and thoughtful, filled with both power and sensitivity. Lyrically driven, Long's prose unfolds softly over simple guitar picking, leading the listener on a quiet and introspective journey. |
