Their sound is a fresh mix of folksy emotion and lively celebration, like something your dad might listen to, mixed with a loud, harmonic party you've never quite experienced before. This band raises their glass to bravery in all of its forms, never ceasing to sing about the meaning of life, while busting stereotypes left, right, and center. Travis Hayes -From San Francisco, California. -Travis Hayes may not be a household name just yet, but his honest and heartfelt music charms audiences and listeners near and far. Based out of SF, the singer/songwriter captures a unique perspective on heartbreak and coming of age- all while sipping a glass of whiskey. Trebuchet -From Sonoma, California. -Rarely does a band's sound mirror its name so appropriately as Trebuchet. Much as this real-world instrument of destruction lofts deadly missiles into enemy defenses, the Sonoma-based foursome fires salvos of meandering melodies and intricate harmonies into the listener's ear that cause bedlam in the brain. From the bouricy strum of the ukulele to the determined, relentless thumping of the kick drum, from the wailing cry of the mandolin to the sudden, crisp four-part harmonies, and from the intense, sorrowful phrases to the perpetual, dulcet tones of the piano, Trebuchet's songs are sure to wash over you and leave a lasting impression. The sound is unique and particular, composed simply and totally for the sake of music, rather than the sake of the audience. Christian Lee Hutson -From Nashville, Tennessee. -To merely call Christian Lee Hutson an old soul would be to deny the vibrancy of his sound. Championed by LA Record as "sparse and graceful," Hutson writes songs that the SF Bay Guardian describes as "...foreboding, bluesy love ballads laden with longing nostalgia." Despite the maturity and commitment to tradition found in the 22-year-old singer-songwriter's work, they vibrate with a youthful energy as if a drunk and sedentary George Jones was being channeled through a drunk and animated Conor Oberst. |
