They are about as playful as an arty pop band can get: melodies in between melodies, dance-rock guitar, glittery keyboard, disco bass, galloping propulsion from a 6 foot 10 drummer, all fronted by heavy-breathing tales of poignant relationships and counter-culture glow. Cute, sexy, and a little terrifying. Scissors For Lefty has played all over the United States and the United Kingdom, including tours with the following bands: Arctic Monkeys, Dirty Pretty Things, Erasure, Smashing Pumpkins, Metric, Panic at The Disco, Blonde Redhead, The French Kicks, Locksley, The Matches, The Fiery Furnaces, Semi Precious Weapons, Kaiser Chiefs, Rykarda Parasol, Elephone, Black Heart Procession, Suffrajette, The Pigeon Detectives, Paolo Nutini, Ben Kweller, Juliette & The Licks, Grandaddy, The Bravery, Erase Errata, The Cribs, The Bloody Heads, White Lies, Mr. Loveless, The Frail, The Trims, The Hundred Days, and more... Happy Fangs Rebecca Gone Band, Mr. Cobra & Jess G. -from SF -Happy Fangs is San Francisco's war-painted and wiry rock trio. Rebecca Gone Bad brings her high-energy vocals. Mr. Cobra brings his grit-pop guitar. Jess G brings her hard-hitting melodic beats. Together they create empowering anthems to make both Bikini Kill & AC/DC proud. -The story of Happy Fangs starts in 2007 when Rebecca's indie pop band, My First Earthquake, started sharing a rehearsal space in San Francisco’s gritty Tenderloin neighborhood with Cobra's dark electro-rock band, King Loses Crown. The two started working on songs together after Rebecca left her band and despite their polar musical influences, the pair quickly found their raw and vibrant sound. After releasing a self-titled EP, many Bay Area shows, and an east-coast tour, the duo decided to take their rhythm section beyond drum machine. The duo set out to find their dream drummer—"a woman who plays drums as hard as Dave Grohl." Their dream came true in the form of Jess G, drummer & front-woman of Sacramento's Im Dirty Too, which she formed with Tycho's Zac Brown. She's also played with The Drama and began Red Host with Chelsea Wolfe. Jess has now become the third fang. Happy Fangs' live shows juxtapose strong black and white visuals with their contrasting pop meets rock sound. Each show is a flurry of enthusiasm, loud guitars, hard-hitting drums, and singularity—the trio writes an original song on stage based on an audience's suggestion. Some people say rock is making a comeback. Happy Fangs is proof that rock-n-roll is here to stay. Dangermaker Adam, Carlos, Dave, Neko -from SF Sierra Frost is their manager. -"With catchy rock hooks and an indie pop vibe, Dangermaker creates a unique sound that infects your soul." Tony DuShane, San Francisco Chronicle -The Light is the first new single from San Francisco's Dangermaker. Hot on the heels of their debut album Black Dream, this first taste of their upcoming collection is a powerful and drama-tinged rock anthem of the highest degree. The video, produced by Jen Cohen, is an energy-filled warehouse light show extravaganza which perfectly captures the somber and triumphant mood of this excellent new track. After lead singer Adam Burnett’s father suffered a fatal accident and suddenly passed away during the first week of tracking Black Dream, Adam, Carlos, Dave & Neko plunged into their art with the urgency of a newfound appreciation for life, eventually emerging with a euphoric new sound. In the end, the unifying experience of struggle and loss led to an increased depth of creative character that defines their forthcoming EP – Light The Dark EP I – to be released on Breakup Records this fall. Channeling dark indie pop ala early Killers, Phoenix, and White Lies has propelled the band forward to recent showcases at SXSW, CMJ and beyond. |
