The difference now is their exquisite control over dynamics and a greater emotional resonance throughout. Roland Members: Keith Grimshaw, Joe McCLune, Lars Savage, Kasey Boekholt - from San Francisco, CA ROLAND is an instrumental rock band from San Francisco, California that formed in early 2012. They first started playing live at the end of that year under the band name Rappers as a 4 piece consisting of Kasey Boekholt (guitar), Roland Curtis (guitar), Joe McClune (guitar) and Keith Grimshaw (drums). Around the same time that Rappers first started playing shows, guitarist Roland left the band and was replaced by bassist Lars Savage. Shortly thereafter the band changed their name to ROLAND and continued performing shows and writing instrumental music that is sometimes referred to as math rock, which is characterized by complex, atypical rhythmic structures, stop start dynamics, and syncopated harmonies. |
