At a time when many of the early punks were competing to see who could be more violently self-destructive, The Dickies were refreshingly absurd, penning rudely silly yet terminally catchy odes to Barney Rubble, Marlon Brando, Caligula and Sammy Davis Jr. that were juxtaposed with oddly exhilarating, supersonic-paced remakes of ancient tunes by The Moody Blues, The Left Banke and Black Sabbath. Much like the narrator of “Tears of a Clown,” these cutups have often disguised their own tragic history of suicide and personal struggles with wickedly clownish behavior, and they were accused of sexism earlier this year on the Warped Tour by dour sermonizers who apparently couldn’t tell the difference between satire and real life. - Falling James The Queers Joe Queer - Guitar/Vocals Cheeto Crash - Bass/Vocals Hoglog - Drums -from Atlanta, GA -We've been playing music and touring all over the world for almost 30 years now. We released a few records for Lookout! Records in the early 90s and then had a terrible stint with Hopeless in the late 90s. I don't think they wanna see us and we definitely don't wanna see them. Then we released one more record with Lookout! but afterwards switched to our favorite record label we've ever had, Asian Man Records. All this while touring a bunch. Static is a punk rock band based out of Oakland, CA. Formed in 2013, the band draws on a wide range of musical influences; from the Ramones to early Black Flag and Agent Orange. The band has opened for notable bands such as the Vibrartors and Slaughter and the dogs and looks forward to heading into the studio to record their next release in 2018. |
