Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, effect pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed ballads around his conversational baritone. The warm, electronic sound of Advance Base has been described as "lo-fi," "depressed" & "weirdly uplifting." The debut Advance Base album, A Shut-In's Prayer, was released in 2012, & was one of MOJO Magazine's favorite albums of the year. PopMatters named Nephew in the Wild the #1 Indie Pop Album of 2015. Animal Companionship, the third album by Advance Base, was released September 21, 2018 by Run For Cover Records / Orindal Records. GoldFlakePaint & Various Small Flames both listed Animal Companionship among their favorite albums of 2018. Advance Base's new album, Horrible Occurrences, is Stereogum's Album of the Week. Advance Base is named after the Antarctic meteorological station & psychedelic death trap that nearly killed Admiral Richard E. Byrd during the winter of 1934. Papercuts (solo) -from San Francisco, CA -Papercuts is the music of San Francisco based songwriter Jason Robert Quever. Papercuts blends elements of shoegaze, folk, and 60's pop. Dog Eyes -from Oakland, CA -Fresh off of releasing their Grand Jury debut, dog eyes lend a hand in celebrating Grand Jury's 10th year in business. Following the May release of Samia's take on the Twin Peaks barnburner "Making Breakfast," a touchstone track from their 2014 album Wild Onion, dog eyes spin their own version of "Joy," a beautiful & gentle moment from the 2021 Hovvdy album True Love. “True Love came out just after we started making music together. Hovvdy is a band we’ve looked up to, bonded over, and been inspired by and it feels very special now being on Grand Jury and getting asked to cover one of their songs.” - dog eyes released November 8, 2024 Produced by dog eyes Mastered by Dave Trumfio Artwork by Connory Ballentyne |
