Scissors For Lefty
-from San Francisco, CA
-WHAT'S THEIR STORY?? Scissors For Lefty is a San Francisco Band with a sophisticated pop style combining elements of Indie, Yesteryear, and Dirty Glam. They are about as playful as an arty pop band can get: melodies in between melodies, jangly guitar, glittery keyboard, of Montreal-esque bass, galloping propulsion from a 6 foot 10 drummer, all fronted by heavy-breathing tales of romance and counter-culture glow. The group clearly sounds like they are enjoying themselves. Cute, sexy, and a little terrifying.

Scissors For Lefty has played all over the United States and the United Kingdom, including tours with the following bands: Arctic Monkeys, Dirty Pretty Things, Erasure, Smashing Pumpkins, Metric, Panic at The Disco, Blonde Redhead, The French Kicks, Locksley, The Matches, The Fiery Furnaces, Semi Precious Weapons, Kaiser Chiefs, Rykarda Parasol, Elephone, Black Heart Procession, Suffrajette, The Pigeon Detectives, Paolo Nutini, Ben Kweller, Juliette & The Licks, Grandaddy, The Bravery, The Bloody Heads, White Lies, Mr. Loveless, and more...

Following up on last year's 3rd album release (Bangs & Lashes), Scissors For Lefty plans to head back into the studio this Summer/Fall, with the hopes of releasing yet another heartfelt body of work in Early 2016.

My First Earthquake
-from San Francisco, CA
-Rebecca Bortman enjoys designing brands and digital product from scratch. She enjoys making music and videos with her handsome husband. She stays busy with (perhaps) too many creative projects, two (darling) children, and (nearly) zero complaints.

On the harmonious front, music has been a constant companion to her design work. With her musical husband, she pulled off a very ambitious matrimony in 2015—we wrote and performed an all-original rock-opera wedding. She started in the Bay Area music scene in 2007 as part of the indie-pop band, My First Earthquake. She then spent three years as the war-painted frontwoman in the rock band, Happy Fangs.

She is the daughter of a Scrabble-loving psychologist and a bird-photographing engineer. She is a Pennsylvania girl at heart—born in Philadelphia and grown in the South Hills of Pittsburgh (gooooo Stillers!). At the ripe age of five, her parents supported her decision to become a vegetarian! Still is one! She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in communication design and a minor in creative writing.

-Stefan Aronsen has been promoting the San Francisco music scene for more than 10 years. He has leveraged everything from photography, blogs, survival guides, and podcasting to his current project Balanced Breakfast. He continues to connect music industry professionals in the Bay Area, as well as around the world. This podcast started as a collection of once lost interviews from Mutiny Radio in SF and has progressed to become what it is now, quick witty interviews with indie musicians.
