Nerf Herder
-from Santa Barbara, CA
-Pioneers of the late 90’s Pop-Punk and Geek Rock movements, Nerf Herder are perhaps best known for their powerful theme to the iconic Joss Whedon TV show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Formed in Santa Barbara, California, in 1994, Nerf Herder was signed to major label Arista Records soon after their ironic tribute “Van Halen” stormed the Modern Rock charts in 1996. The video for their follow-up single, “Sorry”, featured Mark Hamill and Miguel Ferrer, and played regularly on MTV. Following years saw the band touring the world multiple times, and releasing a number of albums on various labels, including esteemed indie punk label Fat Wreck Chords and novelty powerhouse Oglio Records.

The current band features founding members Parry Gripp and Steve Sherlock, with newer members Linus Dotson (x-Size 14) and Ben Pringle (x-The Rentals). Nerf Herder’s 5th album Rockingham is an explosion of geekiness with songs like “At The Con,” a song written after a performance at DragonCon, “Ghostbusters III,” a lamenting tune about how the sequel will never be released, and “I’m The Droid (You’re Looking For),” which is made entirely of lines from Star Wars and was recorded at Skywalker Ranch. Other instant classics include "The Girl Who Listened To Rush" and "We Opened For Weezer," a completely autobiographical tale of the band's first tour with Weezer during the Pinkerton era.

As of 2018, Nerf Herder has been active playing shows and recording new material.

Pulsars
-from Chicago, IL
-Chicago indie/synth - rock cult favorites Pulsars released one self - titled album before disbanding, with Rolling Stone later praising the debut as one of the 40 Greatest One - Album Wonders and Trouser Press calling it “one of the singular m usical accomplishments of the ’90s...a science fair version of Pet Sounds for the computer age.”

Brothers Dave Trumfio (vocals, guitar, synths, production) and Harry Trumfio (drums, synths) were the object of a major label feeding frenzy based on strong ear ly demos, a 7” single, and prominent gigs opening for the likes of Oasis. They finally signed with Almo Sounds, a new label begun by A&M founders Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss and distributed by Geffen. International tours and opening sets for the likes of Bl ur and Weezer earned the band a devoted cult following, but when the label folded unexpectedly the Pulsars’ momentum ground to a halt.

In 2021 Pulsars re - emerged with Lost Transmissions, a collection of unheard songs and alternate versions of previously r eleased tracks. This was followed in 2024 with the reissue of their debut album PULSARS, making its first appearance on vinyl with restored cover art and band - approved mixes. The revamped Pulsars are hitting the road to bring their music to audiences once again, with Danny DeLeon (Moving Units / Soft Kill) taking over for Harry on drums.

Dog Party
-from Sacramento, CA
-Northern California sibling pop-punk duo Dog Party emerged in the late 2000s when the Giles sisters were still kids. Influenced by the Ramones -- and sharing sonic similarities with the Donnas -- they issued their self-titled debut in 2009. Later, the pair tightened their crunching delivery and vocals on efforts such as 2011's P.A.R.T.Y. and 2016's 'Til You're Mine.

Dog Party formed in 2005 when the Giles sisters had their first practice. Guitarist Gwendolyn was nine years old and drummer Lucy was just six. From that day on, the sisters continued writing songs, practicing and playing the occasional show as they juggled music with school and growing up. They released their first record, a seven-song self-titled EP, in January 2009, then followed it two years later with the similarly self-released P.A.R.T.Y. As the duo expanded their audience and grew more musically accomplished, they began to play more shows, including a tour of Europe. Their music caught the ear of legendary NoCal punk label Asian Man, which signed the duo and released their second album, Lost Control, in the summer of 2013. They headed out on tour with their pal Kepi, formerly of the Groovie Ghoulies, and ended up serving occasionally as his backing band. Along the way they hooked up with Burger Records, which signed on with Asian Man to co-release their next album. Produced again by local hero Chris Woodhouse, the duo made another leap forward with 2015's Vol. 4. Their upward swing continued on their next album, 2016's 'Til You're Mine, which was released in early July. That set caught the ear of Green Day, who brought them on tour in support of that band's Revolution Radio. Their sixth effort, Hit & Run, arrived in 2018. -by Tim Sendra, Allmusic
