Formed in Santa Barbara, California, in 1994, Nerf Herder was signed to major label Arista Records soon after their ironic tribute “Van Halen” stormed the Modern Rock charts in 1996. The video for their follow-up single, “Sorry”, featured Mark Hamill and Miguel Ferrer, and played regularly on MTV. Following years saw the band touring the world multiple times, and releasing a number of albums on various labels, including esteemed indie punk label Fat Wreck Chords and novelty powerhouse Oglio Records. The current band features founding members Parry Gripp and Steve Sherlock, with newer members Linus Dotson (x-Size 14) and Ben Pringle (x-The Rentals). Nerf Herder’s 5th album Rockingham is an explosion of geekiness with songs like “At The Con,” a song written after a performance at DragonCon, “Ghostbusters III,” a lamenting tune about how the sequel will never be released, and “I’m The Droid (You’re Looking For),” which is made entirely of lines from Star Wars and was recorded at Skywalker Ranch. Other instant classics include "The Girl Who Listened To Rush" and "We Opened For Weezer," a completely autobiographical tale of the band's first tour with Weezer during the Pinkerton era. As of 2018, Nerf Herder has been active playing shows and recording new material. Ridel High -from Los Angeles, CA -An LA-based alt pop band formed in 1995 by Kevin Ridel, Steve LeRoy and Steve Coulter. They released one full-length album...twice—first as Hi-Scores for My Records (1997) and later as Emotional Rollercoaster for A&M Records (1998). Ridel and Coulter still occasionally perform as Ridel High with talented pals including Marko DeSantis (Sugarcult), Justin Fisher (Psoma, former Nerf Herder), and Jose Galvez (Ozma). Their latest release is B-Sides & Demos. The Kegels -from San Francisco, CA -The Kegels are good at two things: taking it easy, and keeping it tight. San Francisco braised punk rock interweave a calming focus of culpable razor-embedded melodies with the stoic poignancy of lyricist Mortimer Lopez (guitar and vox), leading the foursome charge. After being courted by fatter labels early on, The Kegels stayed independent and true to their music, sound, and craft, releasing their 2012 full length “No Tomorrow” on their own. Years pushed on as The Kegels crashed on floors, completing tour after tour, to eventually push through and release their 2019 EP “Blood and Wine”, crash landing safely into the nestled warmth and solace of No Pants Records in March, 2020. No mountain too tall, no river ran too deep, no viral pandemic too severe to stop the ever strengthening, contorting wits and sounds of The Kegels. The Kegels are: Mortimer - Vox, guitar Nicola - Bass, Vox Adam - Guitar, Vox Brian - Drums, Vox |
