The Pleasure Routine
-from Oakland, CA
-Lovers' grave plots lie side by side / Amazing, just amazing, what money can buy." On "Grassy Knoll", The Pleasure Routine offer a wry, uneasy reflection on modern America, finding dark humour and quiet beauty in the broken promises of the modern era.

The Oakland band blends jangly guitars with the melodic restraint of Lloyd Cole and the sharp, observational songwriting of '90s-era David Berman. There is no settling into one fixed sound with The Pleasure Routine; outfits and image are, at best, secondary in importance for this band. The band presents itself best live and has been doing so both domestically and internationally over the last decade.

Continuing their creative partnership with producer Ricky Maymi of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Pleasure Routine display a natural chemistry that cannot be purchased. Recent singles "About Carrie" and "Grassy Knoll", mastered by Felix Davis (Geese, Gently Tender), capture a band growing more assured while retaining their curiosity and refining their craft
