Acid Mothers Temple
-from Osaka, JP
-What is “Acid Mothers Temple”?
Collective led by Kawabata Makoto. There are currently around 30 members, famous and unknown, musicians, artist, dancers, farmers etc. In order to follow and document their multifarious activities, in 1998 the Acid Mothers Temple family record label was set up. The Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. group is just one part of collective’s activities.

Over a decade ago Kawabata became involved with a commune of Japanese beatniks and hippies, but the whole left-wing ethos didn’t really sit right with him. The members of Acid Mothers Temple have several houses all over Japan, and each of us is free to come and go between these houses. So we’re not a commune in the sense that all of us live together in the same place. There are some members who like to travel, others who stay at home. Everyone is free to live in whatever way they like. Our slogan is “Do Whatever You Want, Don’t Do Whatever You Don’t Want!!”. As a result of this philosophy, we have lost money and the trust of society as a whole, but we’ve gained time and freedom. When all the Aum Shinrikyo stuff was going on in Japan in 1995, there were quite a few of our members staying at AMT’s house. [NB Aum Shinrikyo, or Aum Supreme Truth, were the religious cult who carried out the poison gas attack on the Tokyo underground in 1995 that left 12 dead and over 1000 injured]. The neighbours mistakenly thought that our house was a secret Aum hideout and managed to get them evicted. Also, mountain villages are always suspicious of outsiders, and sometimes they are ostracised by the community. These kinds of problems pop up from time to time, but there’s not much we can do about it. One of our members is a farmer, living together with his fields and rice paddies. There’s another member who has travelled through the Australian deserts and lived with Aborigines. There’s others who are bumming round India. One went to Africa and never came back. One dropped out of a yakuza gang and decided to travel around Japan searching for mermaids. But we all live according to our slogan, and we all eventually return to the fold. They respect each others’ ways of life, and we try not to tie each other down. The “soul collective” only exists so that we can protect our freedom.

Magick Potion
-from Baltimore, MD
-Hailing from the rural outskirts of Baltimore, consisting of founder, Dresden Boulden on Guitar and Vocals, Triston Grove on Bass, and Jason Kendall on Drums. Magick Potion is a hard hitting heavy rock trio channeling the raw energy and heavy grooves of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Clearly hooked on the likes of underrated groups such as Blue Cheer, The Amboy Dukes and Budgie, the band crafts a sound that fuse’s heavy rock’s gritty riffs with contrasting moments boarding on psychedelia. With roaring guitars, thunderous drums and hard driving bass lines Magick Potion conjures a vibe that is both nostalgic yet contemporary and original. Their music is a bridge to an era where rock was rebellious, loud and unfiltered, yet they infuse it with a spirit all their own. Magick Potion's Self Titled album is out world wide on November 8, 2024.

The Green Door
-from San Francisco, CA
-Blending raw, rhythmic desert sounds with driving 60s acid rock, The Green Door beckons the listener into a landscape evocative of the wild, uncompromising West themes of the 1960s with a mind-bending, psychedelic twist. Formed in San Francisco in 2008, the band is comprised of Mike Carnahan on vocals and guitar, Devin Triplett on bass, guitarist Reese Abell, and drummer Vanessa Wolter. The Green Door's atmospheric strumming juxtaposed with formidable signature riffs that coast atop pounding, driving beats send the listener's mind spinning off to the badlands beyond the border of sonic civilization.

The result is a melodic reckoning force of American myth and counter culture ideology. Deriving their name from a Bob Dylan comment in the 1967 documentary "Don’t Look Back", the concept of a green door stands as an image of mystery enclosing the individual’s perception of the outside world. The Green Door takes reference from throw-back genres and low-fi records as well as American western iconography and legends, but looks forward in its artistic song writing approach, as is evident on their first full-length album titled The Green Door released in 2011. In this way their music has an avant-garde aesthetic, yet still feels familiar. The Green Door released their second album 'Wolf In The Fold' on December 15th, 2017. Their third album ‘Dead Stock’ was released June 28th 2025.
