Portrait
Session with Peter Ellenby
Peter
has been shooting the music scene in San Francisco for over 15 years.
His portraits and live shots have graced magazines and album art around
the globe. A coffee table book of his work, Every Day is Saturday, was
published by Chronicle Books in 2006. His photos also grace
the walls
of his favorite club, the Bottom of the Hill. These photos may be used
for whatever purpose you wish; Band promotion, album art, Christmas
cards, etc. Shoot donated is digital only, but film can be shot at the
expense of the winning bidder.

One
Day of Recording at Center of the Mile Studio
Donny
Newenhouse, Lars Savage and Sam Creek built Center of the Mile with
their bare hands during the fore bidding darkness of an arctic winter.
Fending off Russian slavers, polar bears, weird owls and an occasional
drunken walrus, they eventually decided it was too much. With more than
half of their intern staff dead, sold off as American Apparel models or
simply catatonic from the numbing cold (thanks University of Anchorage,
they all passed), the Ice Brothers moved their studio en masse to the
basement of a San Francisco Victorian deep in the Mission District.
They
began recording bands before the walls were even up and haven't looked
back. Relying on vintage analog equipment (most of it “liberated” from
abandoned military bases near the North Pole) they have crafted record
after record for San Francisco's musical elite. Ranging from
disemboweling heaviness to lush tonal landscapes, they begin with the
“sweet room tones” and end with the “dude, seriously, omigod, that part
was amazing, how the fuck did you do that?!!”
